Restore an Icon - 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II BJ7 2+2 Sports Convertible

The inspired brainchild of Donald Healey, powered by readily available Austin four-cylinder and eventually six-cylinder engines, the Austin-Healey is simply the definitive British sports car of the 1950s and 1960s. Accompanied by a legacy of racing success and appreciated by legions of fans today, the "Big Healey" is blessed by enthusiastic clubs, extensive parts support, and a number of noted restoration specialists today. For enthusiasts looking for a proper "wind in your hair" driving experience, the Austin-Healey is matched by few classic automobiles.

The introduction of the BJ7 model in 1962 introduced significant improvements in comfort, including the introduction of roll-up windows, which replaced the former requirement for side curtains in case of foul weather conditions. Recently, I made a detailed inspection of a BJ7 2+2 from 1963 that is now available in Ontario.

An incomplete restoration of an overall complete car with much of the work already done, the Healey features a rebuilt engine and gearbox (circa 2005), new electrics, and a solid body with most brightwork in place. Upside is quite good, with nice driver-quality examples trading in the $30,000 range and full-on, show-quality restored examples bringing considerably more. Detail photos and a comprehensive condition report are available upon request. If you are interested in purchasing the car, kindly comment below the post or email me at davidneyens1@gmail.com.

This Healey has just been sold to a new owner in the USA and it will soon be restored to as-new condition!
