Packard V-1650-1 Merlin V-12 Display Engine - Sold

Here are a few of images of a very nicely finished and detailed Packard V-1650-1 Merlin V12 engine, mounted on a custom-fabricated display stand with casters. It is based on the Rolls-Royce Merlin 28 with a single-stage supercharger. It was produced from August 1941 onwards and used in a variety of Allied WW II warplanes. It was likely used in Canadian licence-built aircraft, including the Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster III, DeHavilland Mosquito, or Curtiss-Wright Kittyhawk II.

The Merlin was sold to a company in the steel industry and it will be displayed in their corporate offices as a silent tribute to WW II veterans and production workers as part of the upcoming 70th Anniversary observances of the D-Day Normandy landings scheduled for 2014.
